

Communicate with University of Minnesota Extension and other extension programs at the county, regional and state levels via Advisory Committee Meeting minutes and newsletters. Project Methods Advisory Committee meets with program staff and stakeholders to develop strategic plan for subsequent year. Sustainable living related to the use if natural resources and environmental management, and individual, family, and community health and to create strategies for implementing implementing traditional approaches to sustainability.

To develop opportunities for community residents to share traditional knowledge for A strong human infrastructure for the Leech Lake Sustainable Living Program, based on volunteer development activities, will be implemented in six communities on Leech Lake Reservation. The Leech Lake Sustainable Living Program will strengthen collaborations with Minnesota's 1862 Institution, University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Extension Programs on the County, regional and state levels. The Advisory Committee, program staff and stakeholder communities will review abd continue to develop strategic planning for each subsequent year thus allowing the project to continue meeting community needs and fulfilling the Land-Grant responsibilities of Leech Lake Tribal College in the area of community outreach.

Community outreach activities will address the needs of the communities including personal and professional skills development. This goal addresses Family DevelopmentĪnd Resource Management. The Sustainable Living Program will develop community-based education programs designed to assist individuals, families and communities in becomimg healthy, productive, financially secure, and environmentally responsible members of society and their Nation. In addition a strong community volunteer program will be implemented in six communities on Leech Lake Reservation. This goal addresses the area of enhanced capacity building and will be accomplished through the strengthening of relationships with the communities, Minnesota's 1862 Institutions and Extension programs on the county, state and regional levels. Non Technical Summary The first and primary goal of this project is to enhance the capacity of the Leech Lake Tribal College Extension Program, called the Leech Lake Reservation Sustainable Living Program, to build strong and healthy communities through resource development and outreach activities grounded in Anishinaabe perspectives and values.
